When Should I Go to the Emergency Department?
If you have a serious illness, accident, or life-threatening symptoms, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You should seek care if you have:
- Stroke symptoms
- Signs of a heart attack
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe bleeding or trauma
- Loss of consciousness
- Loss of vision or blurred vision
- High, uncontrolled fever
- Head injuries/trauma to the head
- Burns
- Abdominal pain or inability to hold down food and water
- Suspected broken bones or sprains
- Symptoms of behavioral health issues ie: altered mental health status, extreme personality changes, thoughts of suicide, etc

What Should I Do If I Think I May Have COVID-19?
If you are experiencing mild symptoms consistent with COVID-19 including fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell, you can use our Mount Sinai Now Virtual Care or visit one of our Mount Sinai Urgent Care facilities.
