Infusion Therapy

If you have a serious or chronic condition that requires medication that cannot be given orally, your doctor may decide that infusion therapy is the best approach. At the Mount Sinai Health System, we have a number of locations that offer therapeutic infusions.

What Is Infusion Therapy?

Infusion therapy is a form of treatment that enables us to inject medication directly into your veins. This may be a preferred option when oral medication is not possible.

We treat a variety of conditions with infusion therapy, including gastrointestinal, neurological, rheumatologic, pulmonary, and dermatological conditions; anemia; and some types of immune deficiencies. We use infusions to provide a variety of therapies such as immunotherapy, immune globulin, and iron.

Our pharmacists are an integral part of your infusion therapy care team. They compound each customized infusion, tell you what to expect from the infusion, and coordinate care with your nurses and nurse practitioners.

We collaborate with your referring physician to ensure a seamless approach to your care.
